Stray cattle caged in Coimbatore for causing traffic chaos

Coimbatore: The corporation officials caged nine cows that were caught roaming on the road obstructing traffic. The new homes of the animals is the VOC Zoo.

The corporation authorities on Thursday caught nine cows roaming on the roadside in Sungam and Ukkadam areas and lodged them in VOC Zoo. Moreover, the owners are to be fined with ₹.3,000 for big cows and 1,000 to 2,000 for small cows.

Motorists and civilians have been suffering severely as cattle menace the roads and disrupt traffic at Customs and Ukkadam in Coimbatore district. Based on the complaint lodged by the public and social activists, a warning was issued on behalf of the corporation that the owners shall be imposed penalties on cattle disrupting public. However, cattle owners continue to ignore the warnings.
